St Mary’s College - Wantirna South Campus
In partnership with Holy Trinity Primary School
The St Mary’s College Wantirna South campus is located within Holy Trinity Primary School, offering enrolment from prep to year 6. The campus operates as a partnership where St Mary’s College students are integrated into Holy Trinity classes. This model of inclusion provides our students with access to all Holy Trinity programs including an outstanding literacy program, Maths, Religious Education, ICT, Physical Education and the Arts. Italian classes are also offered to our students if there is an interest in a language other than English.
Holy Trinity classes are framed with support from a St Mary’s College Teacher of the Deaf who plan and deliver the core curriculum in partnership with the Holy Trinity classroom teacher in a manner that optimises learning potential for students who are deaf and hard of hearing. Strategies to support the development of lifelong friendships, strong connections and a feeling of belonging are identified. Classroom acoustics are enhanced through the use of Phonak Soundfield technology in all learning spaces and assembly areas. The core curriculum for our deaf and hard of hearing students is complimented by the St Mary’s Expanded Learning Program (ELP), designed to support and enhance the specialist educational needs of students who are deaf. Delivered as either part of their Holy Trinity classes or in negotiated small group or individual sessions, Language, Speech, Listening, Interpersonal and Personal Learning goals are assessed, developed and monitored, providing our students with the optimal requisites to succeed at school. Parents are invited to attend four support group meetings a year to discuss their child’s educational program and review progress towards goals.
St Mary’s College students are warmly included and are valued members of the Holy Trinity Primary School community, participating in all co-curricular functions including school camps, concerts, art exhibitions, and sporting events. As members of the broader community of deaf and hard of hearing students at St Mary’s College, they also participate in events such as Primary School’s Deaf Sports Days and optional lunchtime Auslan Club. St Mary’s College students are able to fully participate in the Sacramental program offered by Holy Trinity Primary School as part of the St Jude’s Parish, Scoresby.
